Friday Fives!

It's been awhile since I've done Friday Fives over at Beth's so I thought I would do it again!

Just Me and My Life

1.  What's your favorite comfort food?
Hmmm, I would have to say Spaghetti-os!  I just love them!

2.  What's one thing that's on your mind right now?
There's a lot on my mind but I would have to say the top two are exercising regularly again and teaching my students their letters.  I've been exercising but not as regularly as I would like.  And, I have a great class but they are significantly lower than my class last year.  I am going to have to figure out creative and meaningful ways to teach letters and concepts about prints (how books work, differences between letters and words, etc.)
3.  What's the best advice you've ever received?
I think it would be along the lines of- live to make yourself happy, don't worry about what others think.  :)

4.  If you found $10 right now, what would you do with it?
This is boring but I would put it in my wallet because I NEVER have cash.  In fact, yesterday I had to use my debit card for $1.82. So, I would use that $10 to pay for those incidental expenses that are less than $10!

5.  What's your least favorite thing to clean in your house?
Without a doubt, my kitchen floor!  I  have a really hard time keeping it clean; I feel as though I'm always vacuuming it or swiffering it and it never stays clean for longer than an hour!  I can only imagine what it will be like when we have kids!

Friday Fives

Beth's Friday Fives Topic this week is five things you remember about September 11th.

Just Me and My Life

Five things I remember about September 11th...

1.  I was driving to campus to go the class and I heard on the radio (DC101) that a small jet engine plane had accidentally flown into one of the twin towers.  I remember thinking to myself- how do you accidentally fly into one of the towers?  It never even entered my mind that people would do it on purpose.

2.  By the time I had walked the 10 minutes to my building, the second plane had struck and it was quite obvious that it was not accident.  I remember being utterly astounded that America was being attacked.

3.  I remember trying to call my parents and not being able to get through to them because the cell phone towers were jammed.

4.  Leaving campus and going to my boyfriend's apartment and watching the news together with his roommates.  We were glued to the tv.

5.  The sense of unity of the country, along with the sense of pride.  I remember seeing all the American flags flying in the following days and weeks and being proud that I was an American.

To all those who lost their lives on September 11th, I will never forget...

Friday Fives

It's Friday and it's been AWHILE since I've done Friday Fives at Beth's.  This week is random questions.

Just Me and My Life

The questions...

1.Something you are OCD about...
Wow, there are quite a few things I'm afraid.  I think the thing I'm most OCD about though is the kitchen sink.  I hate anything in it- I hate dishes in it and I hate little food particles that haven't been washed out.  EW.  I'm getting disgusted even thinking about it.

2. Your favorite quote...
There are too many... I think the one at the top of my blog is my current favorite though.

3.What is the farthest you have been from home?
Italy!  I went to Italy a couple of summers ago with my sister.  It was fabulous.

4.Do you do a real or fake Christmas tree?
I'm afraid to say fake.  I always grew up with real trees.  Blake grew up with fake and was willing to try it.  It was a bad experience for him (think needs everywhere) and he refused to try it again.  He bought a really nice one from Balsam Hill a couple of years ago.  Once the basement is finished (I'm hoping before Christmas but we'll see), we're going to have two trees- our big, fake one and a little, real one.

5.First Blog you ever read?
Hmmm.  Pioneer Woman, I think I started reading her first because of her recipes.  If not her, then MckMama.

Friday Fives!

It's Friday Fives over at Beth's!

Just Me and My Life

1. Are you a MAC or a PC???
I'm a PC user but I really want to try out a MAC.  I've heard such great things about them and I love my iphone.  I worry that things wouldn't be compatible.  Is that silly?

2. If you could go anywhere on vacation this summer where would you go???
I'm going on my honeymoon this summer and I can't wait for that, we're going to St. Lucia.  However, I am dying to travel more in Europe!  I've been to England, Paris and Italy but I would love to see some more of it!

3. Which is your most cherished childhood memory?
This is a really hard one.  I can't say one in particular.  But, I love that every Friday night for a long time we had pizza night.  We always ate dinner together at the table and I remember loving it, especially because it was pizza!  I really want to continue some sort of tradition like that with my family!

4. What were you doing the last time that you had a good laugh?
Over the weekend- I can't for the life remember what Blake and I saw but it had us both dying of laughter in the car.

5. What is your favorite book or magazine??(We need some beach read ideas)
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult is my all time favorite.  But click here to see more (just scroll to the bottom to see the adult ones)!

Friday Fives: Movies

It's Friday Fives over at Beth's.  This topic for this week is your favorite five movies.

Just Me and My Life

We weren't allowed to watch a lot of TV when I was little and we didn't have a VCR until I was in high school.  We didn't have cable until I was in college.  So, I was apparently deprived of a lot of 80's movies.  I miss out on a lot of jokes because there are a bunch of movies/tv shows I haven't seen before.

ANyways.  Here are my top five movies in no particular order...

1.  Good Will Hunting- I remember seeing this in the theater and being so inspired by it and loving the story of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.  I love it!

2.  Sweet Home Alabama- This is my feel good movie.  I love Reese Witherspoon and this is just one of those movies that doesn't require a lot of thought but I love.

3.  School Ties- This movie reminds me of high school- not because we were bigoted or anything.  But, I remember watching this one Friday or Saturday night with my high school girls and just having fun.  This is a story about a character (Brandon Fraser) who is Jewish and gets a scholarship to a boarding school and hides his religion until it is forced out.  It also has Matt Damon and Chris O'Donnell in it!  I think the memory that goes along with this movie is why I like it so much.

4. Collateral- This is a movie with Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox.  Jamie Fox is taxi driver and Tom Cruise is a hit man and he hires Jamie Fox to drive him around that night... Jamie Fox has to do his best to stay alive.  Blake and I went to see this in the movie theater towards the beginning of our relationship and it was a really great date- dinner before, movie and then drinks afterwards.  Again, the memory that goes along with this movie that makes me like it so much.

5.  I Am Sam- This movie has Sean Penn, Michelle Pfeiffer and Dakota Fanning.  It's about a man with the mental capacity of a 7 year old who raises a baby by himself until Child Protective Services deems him unfit.  It's the journey of his battle to win custody.   This movie makes me cry every time I watch it!

What are your favorite movies?
